A gastrointestinal disease characterized by sensitivity to gluten with malabsorption and mucosal atrophy, resulting in diarrhea, steatorrhea, and nutritional and vitamin deficiencies. Also called gluten enteropathy, gluten-sensitive enteropathy, nontropical sprue.
