beta-blocker
noun A drug that opposes the excitatory effects of norepinephrine released from sympathetic nerve endings at beta-adrenergic receptors and is used for the treatment of angina, hypertension, arrhythmia, and migraine. Also called beta-adrenergic blocking agent.
