basal layer
noun- The outermost layer of the endometrium, which undergoes only minimal changes during the menstrual cycle.
- The inner layer of the choroid in contact with the pigmented layer of the retina. Also called Bruch's membrane, vitreous membrane.
- The inner layer of the ciliary body of the eye, continuous with the basal layer of the choroid.
- The deepest layer of the epidermis.
