  1. The outermost layer of the endometrium, which undergoes only minimal changes during the menstrual cycle.
  2. The inner layer of the choroid in contact with the pigmented layer of the retina. Also called Bruch's membrane, vitreous membrane.
  3. The inner layer of the ciliary body of the eye, continuous with the basal layer of the choroid.
  4. The deepest layer of the epidermis.
