babesiosis definition - medical
ba·be·si·o·sis (bə-bēˌzē-ōˈsĭs) or bab·e·si·a·sis (băbˌĭ-zīˈə-sĭs)
noun A human protozoan disease of the red blood cells caused by infection with a species of Babesia that is transmitted by ticks and characterized by fever, malaise, and hemolytic anemia. Also called piroplasmosis.
