Usually, the locality within
which the trial or suit will take place, as sometimes there may be several
places where jurisdiction could
be established. Venue is often a matter of convenience to the parties in a
civil suit. In a criminal suit, where it may be difficult to empanel an
impartial jury (due to extensive publicity or other considerations), a change
of venue may be sought. See also forum
