A written agreement between husband and wife in contemplation of divorce detailing how their property is to divided, how alimony or child support is to be paid and in what amount by whom to the other, and custodial arrangements for children. Such a paper is legally enforceable and may have income-tax implications if the couple has physically separate domiciles.
