n

A principle of tort law for which a tortfeasor is responsible, even for the unforeseeable results of his or her wrongful act; the term derives from a case in which a light blow to the head killed an individual, thereby subjecting the hitter to liability, even though one would not have expected serious injury or death from the force of the blow.
