The filing fees, jury fees, court reporter fees, and other expenses, excluding attorneysÂ’ fees, incurred in the prosecution of or defense against a civil suit. When allowed by statute, a court may order the losing party in a civil action to reimburse the successful party for his or her costs. Also called court costs. See also bill of costs.
