brother
brother definition - legal
n
A traditional term of
collegiality (for example, “I respectfully disagree with my brother Smith on
the issue of . . . .”), by which lawyers or judges refer to one another. When
referring to more than one,
the plural, brethren, is used. However, as more women enter the legal
profession, more gender-neutral phrases, such as “my colleague,” are being
used.
