In criminal law, a written statement of the charges brought against the defendant specifying the details of the alleged acts of wrongdoing that will be brought up at trial. Such a document is usually filed in response to a defendantÂ’s request for more specific information when the criminal charges are vague or ambiguous. In some states, a bill of particulars can also be used in civil actions.
