Kárpathos
(kärˈpə-thŏsˌ, -pä-thôsˌ)
An island of southeast Greece in the Dodecanese Islands of the Aegean Sea between Crete and Rhodes. It was controlled at various times by Venice, Turkey, and Italy before passing to Greece in 1947.
