Impleader Definition

The procedure by which a third party is impleaded.

A legal procedure by which a defendant brings into an action a new party who may be liable for all or part of the plaintiff's claim against the defendant.

A procedure under which one of the parties brings in a third party, typically in an attempt to hold the third party liable on a claim or counterclaim made against the party who is bringing in the third party.
