go into a huddle idiom

Gather together privately to talk about or plan something, as in The attorneys went into a huddle with their client before asking the next question. Although huddle has been used since the 16th century in the sense of “a crowded mass of things,” the current usage comes from football, where the team goes into a huddle to decide on the next play.
