National Information Infrastructure Protection Act of 1996 definition - hacker

(legal term)

In October of 1996, the U.S. National Information Infrastructure Protection Act of 1996 was passed as part of Public Law 104-294. It made changes to the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, codified at 18 U.S.C. § 1030. The changes were meant to add strength to that Act by closing legal voids to more ably protect the confidentiality, integrity, and security of computer information and ­networks.
