The co-inventor with Presper Eckert of the first electronic computer, the ENIAC (Electrical Numerical Integrator and Calculator). In 1935, he was a physics professor at Ursinus College in Pennsylvania. From 1968 until his death, Mauchly was president of Dynatrend Inc., a company he created. He was also president of Marketrend Inc. from 1970 until his death. He received many awards for his pioneering work in computing, including the Emanual R. Pione Award, the Harry M. Goode Memorial Award, the Philadelphia Award, the Potts Medal, and the Scott Medal. Mauchly was elected a member for life of the Franklin Institute, the National Academy of Engineering, and the Society for the Advancement of Management. In his later years, Mauchly received advanced honorary degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and Ursinus College.
