Hughes, Eric, Gilmore, John, and May, Tim Team definition - hacker
Thinking that a need existed for privacy

themselves a wandering band of cryptographers, advocates for privacy, and
anarchists in a digital world, the Cypherpunks have a prolific email list that
purportedly synthesizes mathematical concepts with the practical issues of a
cultural revolution.
