  1. to illustrate (a book already printed) with engravings, prints, etc. obtained elsewhere, often by clipping them from other books
  2. to damage (a book) by clipping such engravings, etc.

Etymology: after J. Granger, author of a Biographical History of England (1769), which included blank pages for such illustrations
