Floptical - Computer Definition
(FLoppy OPTICAL) An earlier type of floppy disk that stored 21MB and used optical alignment and magnetic recording. Introduced in 1989 by Insite Peripherals of San Jose, it did not become popular, because it did not offer enough increase in storage capacity. Similar technology was used in the LS-120 drive introduced in 1996 with 120MB capacity. See LS-120.
