street name definition - finance
Securities that are held by a brokerage firm on behalf of a customer; the securities are in the name of the brokerage firm. Securities held by a brokerage firm are easier to sell, because they can be transferred to another broker without having to deliver the physical certificates that list the customerÂ’s name.
