Singapore Straits Times Index definition - finance
The benchmark index of the Singapore Exchange (SGX). The purpose of the Straits Times Index is to reflect the daily trading activity of stocks on the SGX. On August 31, 1998, the Straits Times Index replaced the Straits Times Industrials Index (STII) and began trading where the STII ended, at 885.26. When stocks were reclassified on the SGX, the industrials category was eliminated.
