Sinclair, Upton
Sinclair, Upton definition - finance
A
socialist who wrote books and wanted to end poverty. In an attempt to garner
sympathy for the working class, he wrote The
Jungle, a novel published in 1906 about conditions in the Chicago
stockyards. The book brought
him fame and outraged politicians who were appalled by the poor sanitary
conditions in the slaughterhouses. The book prompted Congress to pass the Pure
