seller financing definition - finance
Financing that is extended by a seller to a buyer in order to complete the sales transaction. In real estate seller financing, the seller likely would keep a lien, or legal right, to the property in the event that the buyer discontinues payments. Seller financing also is provided by large corporations such as telecom equipment companies or computer companies, which extend credit to their customers in order to boost sales.
