sell-side analyst definition - finance
A research analyst who works for a sell-side company, which is a company that makes its money from selling investments such as stocks, bonds, or mutual funds to investors. A sell-side analyst contrasts with a buy-side analyst, whose mutual fund or pension fund employer buys investments with the intention of maximizing its returns for its clients.
