RBOC definition - finance
Regional Bell Operating Companies, which
were created when the AT&T Corp. telephone monopoly was broken up in 1983.
After a series of mergers following the break up of AT&T, four RBOCs
remain: BellSouth Corp., Qwest Communications
International Inc., SBC Communications Inc., and Verizon Communications
Inc.
