preferred dividend coverage

preferred dividend coverage definition - finance
The amount of money that is available to pay preferred dividends after interest expense and taxes have been paid. Preferred dividend coverage is calculated by taking net income after interest and taxes (before common stock dividends are paid) and dividing that amount by the amount of preferred dividends to be paid. The resulting number tells how many times the preferred dividend requirement is covered by current earnings.
