Paley, William S. definition - finance
The
builder of the CBS radio and television networks, which at the time he gained
control was a 16-station chain of radio stations formally called the Columbia
Broadcasting System. He lured radio talent away from the other networks during
the 1940s, which helped make CBS the top-rated network in radio and television
until 1976.
