New York Stock Exchange definition - finance
A stock exchange that was founded in 1792 by 24 men who created an investment community in New York. The NYSE is the largest stock market in the U.S., and trades an average of 1.3 billion shares a day, representing $42 billion in market capitalization. The exchange lists 2,800 companies with a global market capitalization of $15 trillion. It is owned by its 1,366 seat-holding members.
