A non-profit trade association, headquartered in Washington, D.C., that represents the interests of businesses involved in the real estate investment trust (REIT) industry. (REITs consist of businesses that invest in commercial real estate or housing or provide related services.) The association lobbies Congress on behalf of the industry, conducts research on the industry, and monitors trends.
