mean definition - finance
The
average, or arithmetic mean. To calculate the mean of a series of numbers, the
numbers are added together and then are divided by the number of terms. For
example, the average of 5, 10, and 15 is 10. The answer is calculated by adding
the three numbers, which equal 30, and then dividing 30 by the number of terms,
3, to get 10.
