market perform

market perform definition - finance
A rating issued by Wall Street analysts that indicates lukewarm approval of a company’s prospects. If an analyst rates a company a market perform, the common expectation is that the analyst is really saying “sell” but doesn’t want to be that blunt for fear of offending the com-pany and preventing his or her employer from winning future lucrative banking business from the client. The term neutral may be used instead.
