investment letter definition - finance
A letter that is written by the issuer of a new
security when the security is sold through a private placement. The letter is
written because the security is not registered with the Securities and Exchange
Commission. Because the securities are not registered, they cannot be sold
until two years after they are purchased, which is stated in the investment
letter.
