A
German corporate designation that stands for Gesellschaft mit beschränkter
Haftung and is translated as a “company with limited liability.” A GmbH is
incorporated, but it is not publicly traded. GmbHs are essentially partnerships
without a legal name, and there must be at least two partners. They also must

subsidiaries can be GmbHs. Switzerland also uses this designation. See also AG.
