Making an informed guess about the direction of an individual investment, a market, or the economy as a whole. Research analysts forecast their view on the price direction of individual stocks. A market strategist forecasts what direction he or she thinks the market will head. Chief eco-nomic strategists forecast a variety of their views on what direction they think economic growth, inflation, and interest rates will take.
