fixed-income investment
fixed-income investment definition - finance
An investment, typically a government, municipal,
or corporate bond or note, that pays a fixed rate of return. Preferred stock,
which pays a fixed dividend, also is an example of a fixed-income investment.
If interest rates decrease, or if inflation remains low, then fixed-income
investments provide a steady return. However, if interest rates increase or if
inflation rises, returns will fall.
