factory orders report

factory orders report definition - finance
A monthly report produced by the Census Bureau on factory orders in the United States. It measures new orders, shipments, and unfilled orders for major industries such as the electronics, textile, and automobile industries. Its shortcomings are that it can be excessively volatile and that it excludes data on imports. Because the report follows the durable goods release, its information is anticipated and has little broad impact.
