Dow Jones Transportation Index definition - finance
An index that tracks the share price movement of 20 of the largest transportation companies. These companies include railroads, trucking companies, and airlines. While many companies have remained in the Dow Jones Transportation Index for a length of time, some are occasionally removed due to poor financial performance or a merger. The ticker symbol is TRAN.
