crop reports

crop reports definition - finance
Reports on the state of agricultural crops that are compiled by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The crop reports include estimates on planted acreage, yield, and expected production, and include details from the previous year. Crops reports are just as important to the agricultural markets as the unemployment or gross domestic product reports are to the financial markets. When crop reports are released, trading can be very volatile if the information outlined in the report was unexpected.
