corporate charter definition - finance
The articles of incorporation and bylaws that establish how a company should be governed. Corporations that are the subject of an unwanted takeover attempt may try to change their charter to make the takeover more difficult. One common tactic is to increase the number of shareholders that must vote to approve a takeover.
