contributed capital definition - finance
A line item on a companyÂ’s balance sheet that reflects payments of cash or assets that the owners have made to the company in order to increase the companyÂ’s equity. It also includes additional paid-in capital, which occurs when stock is issued and the value received is greater than par value. Also called paid-in capital.
