Class A shares

Class A shares definition - finance
Mutual funds shares that typically charge investors a front-end load, or sales charge assessed when the account is opened, that amounts to 1 percent to 5 percent of the total amount invested. Definitions for each class vary with each fund. See also Class B shares, Class C shares, and Class I shares.
