cattle placements definition - finance
A monthly statistic reported by the U.S. Department of Agriculture as part of its monthly cattle-on-feed report. It shows how many cattle are being put in feedlots in preparation to go to slaughter. The report is presented in terms of a percentage. For instance, the report will say that placements are down 1 percent from last year.
