British thermal unit
British thermal unit definition - finance
A unit of measure used when referring to
natural gas. Technically, it is the quantity of heat required to raise the
temperature of one pound of water from 60 to 61 degrees Fahrenheit at a
constant pressure of one atmosphere. In the same way that ounces is the typical
unit of measure used when pricing gold, B.T.U. is used when pricing natural
gas.
