Bombay Sensex definition - finance
IndiaÂ’s benchmark stock index. The Sensex is a value-weighted index comprised of 30 companies whose beginning index value was set at 100 in April 1979. These companies account for about 20 percent of the market capitalization of the Bombay Stock Exchange.
