2.5G technology

2.5G technology definition - finance
Short for two-and-a-half generation, wireless technology that is between second generation (2G) and third generation (3G). The term came into use because of the delay in rolling out 3G technology and products. Instead of making broad advances to 3G technology, wireless companies made incremental improvements in 2G technology.
