1G definition - finance
The first generation of wireless technology, which began in the late 1970s and lasted throughout the 1980s. These wireless communications systems used analog voice technology in comparison to 2G (second generation) digital technology. 3G (third generation) technology is wireless technology that allows for transmission of data images and Internet access.
