• rim: Simple plain everted rim, no evident decoration; striations on the lower interior are probably from manufacture.

• eyelid: The diagnosis is made by everting the eyelids when large, flat ' papillae ' become visible ( Figure 5 ).

• lid: The punctum may be viewed by partly everting the lid toward the examiner.

• lip: Large fragment of an ornamented bowl, witb round and slightly everted lip.

• slightly: This vessel is taller and less carinated than Beaker 1. The rim is slightly everted, and the base is flat.

• then: Instruct the patient to look down and then evert the lid against a cotton bud.
