Origin of Dobruja

  • Probably ultimately from the Turkish rendition of the 14th century Bulgarian ruler Dobrotitsa. Other theories link it (at least the first element) ultimately to the Slavic word dobro (“good”), or from a Slavic derivation of a Turkic word.
