DMCA, short for the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, is defined as an act which was signed into U.S. law in 1998, creating tight penalties for the distribution of copyrighted material online and making it illegal to try to circumvent anti-copy protections on CDs, DVDs or other forms of digital media.
