diffused propagation Telecom Definition
A technique used in short-range transmission using infrared (IR) light and free space optics (FSO).Within a room, for example, it is possible to bounce the light signal off of a wall, ceil ing, or other surface between the transmitter and receiver as long as the signal retains sufficient strength. The signal naturally diffuses, or scatters, to some extent. Line-of-sight (LOS) is always preferable. See also diffusion, IR, FSO, and LOS.
