Free Online Turkish Translator
Learning a language to the point of fluency can take years. Sometimes, you need a website, brochure, or newspaper article translated before you can do it yourself. The person who said "nothing in life is ever free" obviously hasn't found the numerous free online Turkish translators available for personal use.
Although Turkish is not the first language a person may consider when opting to learn a second tongue, it is still spoken in many parts of the world, including the United States. The Turkish language is spoken in Germany, Cyprus, Greece, Uzbekistan, Iraq, Mongolia, parts of Africa and a number of other geographical areas where Turks and members of the Ottoman empire spread.
Whether you plan to learn Turkish as a second language or simply want to find out how to say simple tourist phrases, you should bookmark a few free online translators to use at your leisure.
Translation Services at yourDictionary.com
Although yourDictionary does not provide translation to and from Turkish within its website, it does provide a number of links that send you to online translators. One service, Translation Booth, does provide free translation to and from Turkish.
allows you to enter up to 30 different languages of text and have it translated by a program. Enter your text in Turkish or have it translated into Turkish from any of the languages. Make sure the box for the human translator is not marked, because it will cost a fee. Click on "Translate Now!" and await your results. You will have the option to purchase a human translation, and a fee will be quoted if you choose to do so. Otherwise, allow a few moments before your machine-translated text appears.
Once you have become more comfortable with translating between Turkish and your native language, visit the Language section of yourDictionary to find information about Turkish dictionaries, grammars, and more language resources.
Turkish Translation Online for Free
Although it is spoken throughout the world, Turkish is not a widely used language. Therefore, finding translation services can be difficult. yourDictionary has compiled a list of helpful free online websites that will provide translations to and from Turkish. Translations are done by computer programs, so they may not be exact and should only be used as a general guideline for understanding the text.
Websites with free Turkish translation include:
- InterTran: Choose to translate to or from Turkish with over 25 languages. Choose languages at the top of the screen, and then enter text into the first box. Click "Translate!" and the results will appear in lower box. Alternative words for the resulting translation are then available at the top of the screen, making it easier to choose a translation closer to your original meaning.
- Turkish Language Class Turkish Class Forums: Agree to the terms and conditions of use, sign up for an account at Turkish Language Class, and you can post phrases and short paragraphs for translation by other forum users. While human translations can be more exact than computer programs, it is important to note that because any user can reply with a translation, it may not be 100% correct, either.
- Freelang's Translation Help Service: Contact a volunteer who has registered with Freelang.net and get help translating a document to or from Turkish into over 50 languages, including Klingon. Read and agree to the terms of use before submitting your request.
- 1-800-Translate: Use the "Free Trial" at the right of the screen once per day to translate text by machine. Select "Continue with Automatic Translation" to get your free translation. Turkish is among more than 15 other languages that can be translated in the free trial.
At times you may simply need a few words translated, without a lot of dictionary information to weed through. Use a translator that allows you to enter just one word and just provides a list of translated words to choose from. Turkish is available at these websites for free:
- Ectaco: Enter either an English or Turkish word, and click the appropriate translation button. Listing "help" results in several translations, using help as a verb or a noun. Choose the appropriate translated word.
- From Language to Language: Over 15 languages can be translated to and from Turkish. Enter multiple words and separate them using commas. Special character keys are available for use if necessary. For example, "help, goodbye" has two results for goodbye and six for the term help.
While you certainly cannot learn Turkish from using translation websites alone, using them can enhance your current skills or give you a general understanding of various texts that you need to read.
